Early Life[]
Arabella Doreen Figg was born in 1940 to Aurelius Figg and Dana Gardner. She was raised in Little Whinging and by the age of 5, it had become apparent that she was a Squib. Her father and mother were not greatly upset and still valued her as their daughter, convincing themselves she was still made for greatness.
If she had gone to Hogwarts then she would have attended from 1951 to 1958.
Her mother died in 1959 when she was aged just 19. In 1964, she married a muggle named Henry Watkins. However, they divorced in 1969 with no children.
First Wizarding War (1970's-1981)[]
During the First Wizarding War, Arabella Figg joined the Order of the Phoenix in 1976. In 1981, she was tasked with again residing in Little Whinging by Albus Dumbledore, in order to watch over Harry Potter and the Dursleys. In this same year, her father passed away.
Between the Wars (1981-1995)[]
When the Dursleys went on holiday, Harry was forced to stay with Mrs. Figg.
She made sure he did not enjoy his time with her or reveal any of her heritage to either Harry or the Dursleys. Once she gave him an ancient chocolate cake in 1988 but she usually showed him her collection of part-kneazle cats.
Second Wizarding War (1995-1998)[]
On 24 June, 1995 she was informed of Lord Voldemort's return to power by Sirius Black who was instructed to do so by Albus Dumbledore.
Oh, I'm going to kill Mundungus Fletcher!" - Mrs Figg concerning Mundungus Fletcher
In 1995, she charged Mr Tibbles with keeping an eye on Harry Potter as she distrusted Mundungus Fletcher with the job. Her suspicions were correct and she found Harry and Dudley had barely survived a dementor attack. Helping bring Dudley home, she informed Harry of her heritage as a Squib and apologised for their time together before he had realised his abilities.
Harry Potter: "Why didn't you tell me you're a , Mrs Figg? All those times I came round your house — why didn't you say anything?"
Mrs Figg: "Dumbledore's orders. I was to keep an eye on you but not say anything, you were too young. I'm sorry I gave you such a miserable time, Harry, but the Dursleys would never have let you come if they'd thought you enjoyed it. It wasn't easy, you know..." - Harry Potter and Arabella Figg
Mrs Figg was also a witness at Harry's trial before the Wizengamot, regarding his unauthorised use of magic as an underaged wizard. She arrived in her bedroom slippers, and her description of the Dementors was unimpressive, as she described them as "big and wearing cloaks."
However, she ultimately managed to convince Amelia Bones and various other unbiased members of the Wizengamot with her accurate description of a Dementor's presence. Despite Cornelius Fudge's attempts to discredit her on the basis of being a Squib, Mrs Figg, along with Albus Dumbledore, managed to persuade the Ministry to clear Harry of all charges.
Figg attended Albus Dumbledore's Funeral in 1997 at Hogwarts School of Wicthcraft and Wizardry and was seen to be greatly upset.
Due to her non-magical prowess, she did not fight in the Battle of Hogwarts on 2 May 1998.
Later Life[]
Her later life is relatively unknown but that she remained in the Order of the Phoenix and continued her breeding of Kneazle-Cats.
