After graduating he became Transfiguration Professor in 961 until his death in 1043. As he was untidy he placed all his theories and discoveries in a book he called Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration in 997. After the death of Zetheron he became Head of Slytherin from 1011 to 1043. As he was clumsy, shy and untrustworthy he didn't marry and died alone.
